I’ve spent the last twenty-two years of my life working on the floor in restaurants of one sort or another. For the last eleven, I’ve been a Sommelier and Wine Director at some of the best in the country. I recently left Campagne & Cafe Campagne in Seattle’s Pike Place Market to help a wider variety of restaurants, and a select group of private clients, as a wine consultant. Though my new job is incredibly satisfying (and challenging), I really miss interacting with customers each night. I founded The Extraordinary Wine Club as a way to get back to the thing that first attracted me to being a Sommelier, sharing my favorite wines with customers.
Because I work for myself, I have the extraordinary luxury of not having to please anyone except my customers. This is something I’ve developed a knack for over the years, and I would like to think that my success as a sommelier has more than a little to do with my ability to choose wines that people really like. That said, this wine club isn’t for everyone: if you are satisfied drinking the same ten wines you have loved for as long as you can remember, you don’t need my help. But if you’re the kind of person who is never quite satisfied with what everyone else is drinking, give one of my clubs a try. I promise that your expectations, and least one of two of your preconceptions, will be shattered. After all, the only thing better than drinking a great glass of wine is drinking a great glass of wine that your friends have never heard of!
