Jake Kosseff’s Extraordinary Wine Club
A rare chance to have Jake Kosseff select wines and deliver them to your home each month
“The thing I miss most, now that I don’t get to work in restaurants every night, is sharing my favorite wines with people. I taste hundreds of wines each week, and some of them are truly outstanding. These clubs offer me a chance to share these extraordinary wines with you.” – Jake

First and foremost, The Extraordinary Wine Club is about getting you great wines that you might not otherwise know about. To this end, I taste hundreds of wines each week in order to select the eighteen that make it to the various categories of the club each month: but don’t worry about me, I’m a professional and am happy to subject myself to this work for your benefit! I will also inform you, from time to time, about events that will provide you with further opportunities to try extraordinary wines. Event listings will always be posted on the website at http://wineclub.jakekosseff.com/wine-events/.
Secondly, The Extraordinary Wine Club is about giving you information about the wines that you get through the club each month. I am convinced that wine becomes more enjoyable as you learn more about it. The information included with the club comes in two forms: online at http://wineclub.jakekosseff.com; and in the form of a quick-reference label for each bottle that is also included with your wine shipment. Though the printed information is largely the same as the information on the web, the web information contains a bunch of extra features that make it even more interesting, including photographs, and links to the websites of the wineries and other sites that might provide you with interesting information relating to the wines. The labels are there so that you can have the most basic information about each wine at hand each time you grab a bottle. Though the labels are similar to the ones I often put in my clients wine cellar, I have to give credit to one of the first members, who said to me “the thing I hate about wine clubs is that I end up with all of this wine, and can never find the information, so I go to grab the bottles and have no idea what they are.” (You know who you are, thanks for the idea!)
Another feature of the website http://wineclub.jakekosseff.com is that it is designed to offer you the opportunity to comment on the wines you receive each month. Though everyone can see the website, only members of the wine club can comment (in order to comment, you must register by following the register link on the right hand side of each page of the site, and use the your unique invitiation code, which I will send you when you sign up for the club). I have set it up this way so that members have an opportunity to share their experiences drinking the wines with one another, including making additional recommendations for food and wine pairings. My hope is that this will foster some lively discussions (as good wine invariably does), and provide us all with additional insights into the wines based on the collective experience of the group. Though you aren’t obligated to comment, you are certainly encouraged to, as talking about wines is another one of the great pleasures that they provide us. If you would like to share your favorite wines from the group with your facebook or other social networking sights, simply click on the “share this” button associated with each wine description, and follow the instructions. I will, no doubt, be adding more features to the website in the near future.
