Sommelier Jake Kosseff delivers the ’sommelier experience’ to your home
Seattle (March 31, 2009) – Buying wine online is incredibly convenient. But buying wine online can also be an impersonal experience, and it rarely introduces anyone to a wine that they weren’t already familiar with.
Award Winning Sommelier Jake Kosseff has set out to bring some of the best parts of the “Sommelier experience” to online wine buying through The Extraordinary Wine Club.
“In a restaurant with a great sommelier guests often try wines they aren’t familiar because they trust the sommelier to choose well and to provide them with information about what they are drinking: this discovery is part of what makes wine-drinking fun.” Says Jake Kosseff, founder of The Extraordinary Wine Clubs. “The internet allows me to take this experience even further.”
Members of The Extraordinary Wine Club receive a selection of wines chosen by Jake shipped to their homes each month. Members also receive detailed information about each of the wines shipped and links to additional websites where they can learn even more. The Extraordinary Wine Club website, http://wineclub.jakekosseff.com also provides members the opportunity to share their experiences with each of the wines with the other club members through a comment function that is available only to wine club members. Each wine club shipment also includes a sheet of labels designed to help the members keep track of their wines with information such as suggested food pairings, optimum drinking windows, and what grapes are in each wine.
There are four options for joining The Extraordinary Wine Club:
- Extraordinary Wines from Off the Beaten Path (aka Adventurous Drinkers Find Better Bargains)
- The Next Big Thing
- The Champagne & Sparkling Wine Society
- Magnums are More Fun
Founder Jake Kosseff is the 2006 Chaîne des Rotisseurs “Best Young Sommelier in America,” and has worked in some of Seattle’s best restaurants including Cascadia, Campagne and The Herbfarm. Jake got his start in the restaurant business in his home town of Madison, Wisconsin, working as a busboy at Gino’s, and 15 years (and many cities) later, found himself back in Madison as the General Manager of Luigi’s. Watching guests enjoy the wine selections at Luigi’s inspired Jake to become a sommelier.
